John’s background is in technology company leadership and he is now a management consultant. His business communication is significantly affected by his hearing loss from NIHL. As a young man he worked excavating rocks from under a house and hearing protection was not provided. He had received an earlier lump sum payment from ACC but when he applied for hearing aids in 2010 prior to the new regulations, he was declined. He subsequently prepared an application for review based on conflicting specialist evidence which has been successful. Watch John's story
