The Stories of Three ACC Claimants

Peter was a printer who worked in noisy printing rooms for 34 years. He was offered a part payment of $1776 by ACC & Ministry of Health for his claim for NIHL and is struggling to find the balance. Watch the video above, or download the transcript.

Steve has forty years of working as a printer (and taxpayer). He is now a technical representative who relies on good hearing for his work. Despite being assessed with a high level of occupational NIHL his ACC claim has been declined. Watch Steve's story

John’s background is in technology company leadership and he is now a management consultant. His business communication is significantly affected by his hearing loss from NIHL. As a young man he worked excavating rocks from under a house and hearing protection was not provided. He had received an earlier lump sum payment from ACC but when he applied for hearing aids in 2010 prior to the new regulations, he was declined. He subsequently prepared an application for review based on conflicting specialist evidence which has been successful. Watch John's story
